Designers invoked Fort Worth’s Western heritage during Fort Worth Fashion Week as a cowboy boot collection took over the runway.
The Big Bend Collection by Amarillo-based designer Lizzy Bentley was featured last Monday at Fort Worth Fashion Week (FWFW).
Bentley created a collection strewn with rich colors and unique stitching inspired by her travels in the canyons of Big Bend National Park in Southwest Texas.
“It’s a magnetic, remote destination that offers a sense of serenity and the kind of beauty that you only encounter in untouched places,” Bentley said in her blog.
Local photographers, designers and fashion-lovers gathered to view the Big Bend collection at an intimate runway-style show at the William Campbell Gallery on Monday night.
“Fort Worth is unique because we are so diverse with people and fashion and still have a Western flare,” said Phillip Maximillian, FWFW creative director. “FWFW is highlighting that.”
“I think the enthusiasm we have been met with from the community has been so inspiring and special,” said Bentley. “FWFW is such a great way to celebrate the unique fashion sense of the people of Fort Worth.”
