“William Campbell Gallery (WCG) is pleased to debut fine art, lens-based photographer, Maxine Helfman this fall. Maxine’s images are extremely rich in color and depth, not only in the placement and pigmentation of her subjects but also in the drama her imagery reveals. Maxine has been a fine art photographer as well as a commercial photographer since 2012. Her solo debut exhibition will open on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at WCG’s Foch Street location.
The exhibition will feature a collection of bird imagery, flower constructions, and still lifes. Maxine’s body of work is vast in both narrative portraiture and still-life photography. Her series include: Reframing History, Immortal Beauty, Collections of Short Stories, and variations on several still-life series. Flower Constructions, Birds, and Still Life will encompass this exhibition, all these subjects are portrayed in an incredibly unique way as Maxine has perfected the art of pairing for presentation within her practice. The couplings will place two seemingly unrelated objects side by side; but when combined, they are complete and present a distinctive narrative. The images are rich and robust and are to be experienced in person. This exhibition will have an experiential aspect in that some of the works will feature large-scale landscapes behind them, bringing the viewer into a misty forest.
Maxine Helfman’s work can be found in the following permanent collections: RISD Museum, RI; Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, Germany; Tweed Museum of Art, MN and Santa Barbara Museum of Fine Art, CA to name a few. Her work has been exhibited around the world: New York, Bangkok, Paris, and Los Angeles. Maxine calls Plantation, Florida, home today.
The exhibition’s opening reception will take place on September 9, 2023, from 12 PM – 9 PM at 217 Foch St, Fort Worth, TX 76107. The show will run through October 21, 2023. “
